Weimar National Theatre
The German National Theatre and the Staatskapelle Weimar is Weimar's most important stage company. The institution unites the musical theatre and the ‘Sprechbuehne Deutsches Nationaltheater’ as well as the orchestra ‘Staatskapelle Weimar’. A total of six stages are operated throughout the city.
Erfurt Theatre
On the 800-seat main stage and the 200-seat studio stage, the theatre's programme focuses on a wide range of musical theatre and concerts. It is performed by the Erfurt Philharmonic Orchestra, as a part of the theatre. Guest performances of dance and drama are also offered.

The theatre's ensemble offers musical theatre (opera, operetta, musical), drama, concert and puppet theatre. In addition, the programme is supplemented by ballet and drama performances by the Eisenach State Theatre. The ‘Meininger Hofkapelle’ and the ‘Buergerbuehne’ Meiningen are also affiliated with the theatre.

Sled Barn
The history of Ilmenau’s sledding and bobsleighing from its beginnings to the present day is presented on 160 sqm exhibition space in Ilmenau. 7 Olympic champions alone began their careers in Ilmenau. A total of 100 historic sledges from the 19th century onwards as well as training and competition equipment for sledding and bobsleighing as well as heir development are on display.

Museum of Weapons
The Museum of Weapons in Suhl presents the technical development of small arms in the historic Malzhaus in the middle of the town. It is one of the most significant specialised museums in Germany.

Exhibition Mine "Volle Rose"
Mining has been going on in the Thuringian Forest for several hundred years.
The last attempt to save this industry was made by none other than Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Mining in Ilmenau officially ended on 31st of March 1991 as China in particular flooded the world market with cheap fluorspar. In 2005, the company “Phönix Fluss- und Schwerspat-Bergwerk GmbH” resumed mining in the Schortetal valley.

The Saalfelder Feengrotten, "Thuringia's wonder deep in the mountain", captivate many visitors every year. A tour of the "most colourful show caves in the world" provides interesting information about the former mine and the creation of the caves.
